Preparation methodology
Practice is useful when the review changes what you do next.
PrepTrack organizes preparation around understanding the task, attempting realistic scenarios, identifying recurring errors, and applying one specific improvement in the next attempt.

The preparation cycle
- Learn the format and the type of judgment the assessment requires.
- Attempt a realistic prompt or rating task without relying on a memorized script.
- Review the reasoning, communication, role boundaries, and follow-up shown in the response.
- Identify one repeatable mistake or strength.
- Practice again with that specific pattern in mind.
CASPer preparation
CASPer practice focuses on open-response judgment under time pressure. Review considers whether an answer identifies the issue, avoids unsupported assumptions, recognizes affected people, balances empathy with accountability, and proposes a proportionate next step.
Templates can help organize an answer, but they should not replace judgment. The goal is a clear response that fits the specific scenario rather than a universal script.
AAMC PREview preparation
PREview practice focuses on rating proposed actions consistently. Review asks whether an action improves or worsens the situation, whether it addresses the central responsibility, and whether it is appropriately complete rather than merely well intentioned.
Applicants should use the official AAMC materials as the primary reference for the exam's competencies and rating instructions. PrepTrack provides additional independent practice and review.
Limits of independent practice
Practice performance can help identify habits and preparation priorities, but it cannot guarantee an official result. Read more about automated feedback in the AI feedback methodology.
